About Kristi Schermerhorn, Ph.D.
Kristi Schermerhorn, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Redmond, Washington, working with adolescents and adults. Dr. Schermerhorn treats adult clients with a variety of difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and stress. She sees adolescents who have depression, anxiety, separation problems and behavior issues. In order to better understand and treat these issues, she primarily uses psychodynamic psychotherapy, although she also relies on tools derived from cognitive-behavioral therapy, family systems and biological perspectives.
She received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Berkeley/Alameda. She has provided evaluation and treatment in a variety of settings including an inpatient adolescent psychiatric unit and a walk-in psychiatric crisis clinic. Dr. Schermerhorn has worked in the Redmond, WA area since March of 2000 and has been in private practice since October 2002.
When conducting psychotherapy, Dr. Schermerhorn works hard to try and understand her clients not as symptoms, but as individuals with unique histories and viewpoints. She strives to help clients comprehend how their past experiences influence their current behavior, and functioning. With this knowledge, people can make choices that further benefits their lives.
